6 Healthy Foods That Aren't Healthy

July 3, 2017by admin0

The food industry is a tricky one. They’ve been able to fool us all into thinking the following “healthy foods” are actually good for us. But don’t be mistaken; there are many healthy foods that aren’t healthy at all. Prepare to be amazed.

6 Healthy Foods That Aren’t Healthy

It’s actually shocking how the food industry can manipulate their way into your belly. The only way to ensure you’re actually eating healthy is to know what you’re eating. In order to do that, you have to grow your own veggies, make your foods from scratch, and basically go back to caveman days, which isn’t all that bad once you find out what you’re getting in your system. So, don’t let these healthy foods that aren’t healthy get you down! There’s always a healthier alternative.

Healthy Cereals

We’ve all walked down the grocery cereal aisle and skipped over the Fruit Loops and Lucky Charms. But the healthy cereals really aren’t that great for you either, despite being organic or made with whole grains, high in fiber or sprinkled with flax seeds.

Now, don’t get me wrong. They could be good for you but you have to read the ingredient list. Often times, you’ll find that these foods have a bunch of sugar to make up for the lack of flavor.

Bottled Health Juices

I was once a culprit to the healthy green juices found in the grocery store but as I quickly found out by looking at the ingredient list, I was drinking away junk. Most bottled health juice brands pack in all kinds of sugar, resulting in you containing more calories because you’re drinking an abundance without even knowing it. Although the sugar is likely natural, the amount will send you over the edge.

Veggie Chips

Veggie chips are delicious but they really aren’t that good for you. You can bake and fry even the healthiest of foods, and they still won’t be healthy for you. That’s because the cooking processes diminish the nutrients in the foods. That’s also not to mention that most packaged veggie chips contain starchy vegetables that you should only have in moderation anyway.

So, if you want veggie chips, make your own so you know what’s really going into them.

Healthy Fiber Granola Bars

There’s no denying that those healthy fiber-fortified granola bars are delicious but they’re rarely made from raw oats and nuts. Instead, the packaged brands use other affordable alternatives that are tasteless, and then they add in sugars, preservatives, and colors to make it look and taste appealing.

Next time, try making your own and you’ll actually get what you pay for.

Quinoa Pasta and Chips

Quinoa is inarguably a healthy alternative to regular pasta and chips but you still have to be careful. Some of them aren’t made of 100% quinoa and instead, add in only a little so they can add that special Q-word to the front of the bag. As a rule of thumb, always read the ingredient list to see what’s really going on.

Rice Cakes

As a health enthusiast, you’ve likely snacked on some rice cakes a time or two. They’re low in calories and in fat – what’s not to love?

Well, you’re getting very little for what you eat, in terms of nutrients. Add in the artificial colors, flavors and sweeteners, and you could be getting more junk than health.
